Countries, Cultures, And Creatures
A Learning Center For Secondary School
Students
This book gives step by step details
on how to make ten different learning stations that deal with the
topics of the Amazon Rainforest and South America. Teachers can
select which stations fit their curricular needs and either use them in
any combination or all together to create a comprehensive learning
center. Each learning station is presented in the context of the
following organizational outline: RATIONALE, PRIOR-KNOWLEDGE
QUESTIONS, ANSWERS TO PRIOR-KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONS, OBJECTIVES,
ACTIVITIES, ASSESSMENT, MATERIALS, and RESOURCES. Each station
presents activities and information in a variety of ways that
correspond to the different ways in which students learn. An
extensive list of resources is offered at the end of each section,
including books for both children and adults on the various themes.
The ten learning stations described in
this book are: WELCOME TO SOUTH AMERICA, GEOGRAPHY OF SOUTH
AMERICA, BIODIVERSITY, ECONOMIC BOTANY, CAMOUFLAGE AND MIMICRY,
RAINFOREST DESTRUCTION, PEOPLES AND THEIR LANGUAGES, ART AND ARTIFACTS,
